Safari update 15.0 not working with any banking websites

Safari update Version 15.0 (15612.1.29.41.4, 15612) just installed on my MacBook Pro (late 2013) running Catalina 10.15.7. I can no longer use it to log into any banking sites: "error loading page". Closing and reopening is no help. I do not allow automatic updates but almost always allow Safari updates to keep things secure. I have not upgraded to Big Sur because a lot of its new features won't run on this MacBook and I'm hoping to upgrade next year.

Thanks! BarbMc

If you have Catalina, you can reinstall Safari using this standalone installer. This resolved the issue for me.

If you have Big Sur, you will need to reach out Apple Support and ask them specifically for a comparable stand alone installer.

Apple support sent me these instructions. Reinstalling Safari resolved the issue for me to get to Chase.com and log in to my account..

Let’s try the following steps:

1. On your iMac, go to Apple menu > System Preferences > Software Update and install any Safari updates available there

2. If you are unable to see additional updates, press Command + R while the Software Update pane is clicked

3. If no updates appear, click this link to install a new copy of Safari 15: https://s.apple.com/dH5O8U1q0T

4. After the new copy of Safari 15 has installed, restart your iMac and test if the issue loading the webpage persists

Unfortunately Apple should have provided that solution but didn't or even better they should have tested the update better. just my humble opinion.

in a previous reply here is what worked for me nd many others, it is a standalone download for Safari, hope this helps - Michael

Here is what worked for me, reinstall safari with a standalone installer see below on how to get it. Once downloaded, quit safari, double click, once installed, reopen safari and you should be good to go,

So are you claiming everyone who updated to Safari 15 can’t access their banking websites? I can, why can’t you?

Try this:

Safari->Preferences->Advanced->at the bottom of the page click “Show Develop menu in menu bar” A ‘Develop’ menu appears at the top menu bar. Click Develop and drop down to Empty Caches. You can also use option-command-E.

Safari->Preferences->Privacy->Manage Website Data. Now search for and remove the cookies associated with the websites you are having trouble with. I personally would recommend Remove All to start with a clean slate.

Now try logging into your websites.

I had the same issue on a lot of sites, including eBay, ... The culprit is clearly Javascript, don't waste your time trying the safe mode, etc. Just do this: download the Safari15.0CatalinaAuto.pkg file directly from Apple’s servers and install Safari 15 using the on-screen prompts.

It solved the issue on my MacBook Pro running Catalina with the latest security update and Safari 15.0

Have a good day

UPDATE: the fix from user WMendi WORKS : If you google "Latest update 10.15.7 with Safari 15.0 that won't load pages", the results will include a popular Mac related website has a useful user forum that has a solution.

This fix is a link to download and reinstall Safari 15.0 for Catalina

If you have this problem with a different OS version, you will need to find the correct installer.

iMac 27” late 2013 running Catalina 10.15.7 fully updated. Just downloaded and installed Safari 15 and all is well. My banking and credit card sites are functioning normally as before the update.

So what ever is going on with your update it’s local to you. A couple of tings to try:

Restart your MacBook Pro. You’d be surprised how often that fixes things.

Restart in Safe Mode. This can take up to ten minutes because of routines and cache resets. Then try your websites.

Start up your Mac in safe mode

Clear Safari History, browser caches, cookies

OK. For those of you doubters, here's my own take. I have multiple tabs I've pinned in Safari that have been there for more than a year. Included are my banks (Chase, NBKC), Ebay, LinkedIn! and several others I use regularly. The ones I just named give me the Failed to Load error ever since I upgraded to Safari 15.0 (they're all login pages). All other tabs work fine. If I open those same failed sites in Chrome (simple copy and paste), they all open fine.

If I simply uncheck "Enable Javascript" in Safari's settings, all pages load properly. Of course, they don't function correctly, as all seem to use Javascript for their logins. So, all of the suggestions to "install this, reinstall that, purge, delete," etc. are not going to be successful (I've tried them all).

And if these same sites open properly in Chrome, that means it's not an issue with Javascript on the Mac in general. It's definitely a Javascript issue directly connected to the latest Safari update. Just my $.02.

Wrote this in reply to another post. Adding it here in case it helps others understand the issue better:
