suitable RAM chip for a mid-2010 MacBook Pro
Is a 8GB DDR3L-1600 Mhz SODIMM DDR3 PC3-12800 RAM 1600Mhz chip suitable for a MacBook Pro (13-inch, mid 2010)? It has only a single 4GB 1067 MHz DDR3 now.
MacBook Pro 13″, OS X 10.11

13", 15", and 17" models MacBook Pro mid 2010 all use two 204-pin PC3-8500 (1066 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM sticks.
The 13" is apparently unofficially capable of 16 GB, though officially 8 GB from Apple.
The 15" and 17" models are both 8 GB.

MrHoffman, thank you, I appreciate the info.
Get MacTracker, free, in the App Stores for Mac and iPhone and iPad. It's what many of us use for these questions...
Nope, it needs 1067 MHz RAM. Check at OWC or Crucial for compatible modules.
Much obliged, stedman1.
You are welcome.
