Is my workout counted twice?

I have a Polar chest strap heart rate monitor. When exercising (e.g. nordic walking today) I start both the Polar app on the iPhone and the Workout app on my Apple Watch. The iPhone Health app shows both results:

Is this counted as one workout or is the sum of the two recordings used instead for different calculations (no. of steps, total distance walked in the day, etc.)? Please disregard the difference between the duration and distance in my example. I stopped the Polar app at the end of the workout but forgot to do the same for the Watch app until later when I was already in my car driving home.

Hi Jerry_D,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you’re using two sources for data in the Health app (your Apple Watch and the third party accessory). We’re happy to help.

We suggest taking a look at this article for information on how Health handles data from multiple sources: Manage Health data on your iPhone, iPod touch, or Apple Watch

Should you have additional questions, contact Apple Support.

Cheers.
