How do I sync my iPad and iPhone calendar?

This answer is not helpful. Both my iPad and my iPhone are on the same iCloud service, and they won’t sync. I’ve tried everything, but to no avail. Some help would be appreciated.

You sync both devices to the same iCloud account or another cloud service.
On both devices:
Settings > Your Name, iCloud etc.
Tap iCloud
Is Calendar turned on both devices?
My calendar is turned on on ipad and iphone but my events on my iphone do not show on ipad calendar. When i added an event to calendar on ipad it didn't show but did show on iphone.
It sounds like you don’t have all calendars checked in the Calendar app.
How do I do that on my ipad? Is it on the calendar page where I add events? I haven't found a setting.
