Leaving an external HD connected to iMac for Time machine

Hi, Just wondering if I should leave me external HD connected to my iMac 24/7, I only use it for Time Machine.

iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.15

Yes, leave the ext hd connected 24/7.

Time Machine will save backups every hour and every day.
