iMac 24" on off button

I have a brand new iMac 24" screen. The on/off button worked fine coming out of the box. A simple pressing of the button produced the Apple gong sound and boot up was quick.

I accidentally unplugged the computer from power without closing it down while moving it to a new location.

Now it's tougher to get the on/off button to respond. It only gives the gong and boots up after three or four tries, and on the fourth one pressing to a count of about 5 or 10.

Have I done something wrong? Is the machine okay? What should I do?

iMac 24″, macOS 11.6

Please shut down the computer and then restart by holding down the power key for about 15 seconds. Then restart normally to test it. If the problem persists, please restart in Safe Mode per the directions in Use Safe Mode to isolate issues with your Mac
