Other storage is all content on your phone that doesn’t fall into one of the “colored” categories when you go to Settings/General/iPhone Storage. You can’t get rid of it without losing data. Some examples:

  • Browser cache
  • Mail cache
  • Mail messages
  • Mail attachments
  • Safari's Reading List
  • Crud resulting from jailbreaking your iDevice
  • Game data
  • Saved data files
  • Call history
  • Notes
  • Media
  • Voice memos

Sometimes it can also include storage corruption, usually caused by an interrupted sync to your computer. If you suspect this back up your phone, then restore the backup you have just made.
