tvOS 15 and audio options in playback

In tvOS 15, Apple removed the elegant shortcut menu to audio adjustments (slide down on Siri remote pad), in favor of a more iPhone looking menu above the playback timeline. The UI and placement are nice, but the options are abbreviated. The is no longer audio output options available here. So I can’t send music to my bedroom speakers, or reconnect to my AirPods.

This is a tragedy. Anyone know a way of adding more functionality to the audio options during playback?

For Audio output controls in tvOS 15,

use Control Center,
or use Settings (which now features temporary output (bluetooth, AirPlay) in addition to a default.

Press an hold TV button for control center, which now offers audio output options.

Maybe someone else can chime in with a good idea on AirPort Express, as I don’t have that equipment. Else I would suggest to contact an expert from the the Apple Support staff for further assistance. Contact Apple for support and service (phone numbers) or start your support request online (chat/email/callback).

Connecting the Airport Express via the Control Center doesn’t help. At least in my case there’s a few seconds lag in the audio vs image?
