Trying to connect Apple Watch

I need help connecting my Apple Watch Series 1 to my iPhone SE… It goes straight to the connection screen everything goes good until I have to update it and then I press update and it says I’m not connected to the Internet but I am. Please help! This is a hammy down not brand new watch.
