iOS 15 Health Sharing - stuck on “Setting Up Sharing”

In the updated “Health” app on iOS15 you can share health data with other people. I am able to successfully share to a particular person, but when they share back with me it gets stuck on “Setting Up Sharing” after accepting the invite.

Have tried removing the share and re-linking but still encounter this issue.

Hello there esjaysam,

Thanks for your post in Apple Support Communities. We understand your friend isn't able to share their health data with you, though you were able to share yours with them. We have a few items for you to check.

First, if they've already shared with 5 other contacts, that may be why they aren't able to complete sharing with you. Additionally, on your end, you are able to receive 5 shares. Next, they will want to make sure you are saved in their Contacts with the correct information.

Share and view health data in the Health app

Here's what you need

  • An iPhone or iPod touch with iOS 15 or later.
  • An iCloud account with Health turned on and two-factor authentication enabled.
  • The person you want to start sharing with must be saved in your Contacts.*

On their end, if they do have you saved as a Contact, make sure they have your correct iCloud email address saved. If not, they will need to update their Contact for you, then reinitiate a share from their Health app.

If all this is correct, and they still aren't able to share their Health data with you, they will need to reach out to our support teams. Provide them this information to get in touch:
