Sister is able to see my mom's text messages on her phone.

Hi! My mom and my Sister recently are having a rough time with each other and my sister is now claiming she can see what my mom is texting other people about her. My mom isn't phone or computer savvy so I'm typing this on her behalf.

I first went to reddit to ask about this by my mom's own request but thought after the fact to ask here. A redditor mention that it might have been that my sister put my mom's number into her apple ID and then approved it on my mom's phone back when they were on better terms. Is this possible? could my sister be using a different method to see my mom's texts and phone call history? any help would be great. They are also on the same phone plan but have different numbers.
