if this is a 2018, or Spring 2020 updated Intel Mac mini, then one must completely disassemble the mini in order to upgrade the RAM.

Good point. I left it open in case OP was referring to Intel.

Mac mini (M1, 2020) has memory that is integrated into the Apple M1 chip and can't be upgraded. You can configure the memory in your Mac mini when you purchase it."

Also, even if you special order direct from Apple, the limit is 16 GB of unified RAM. From the spec:

Memory

• 8GB unified memory
• Configurable to 16GB
