Malware from a text message

I received a text message advising me of inability to deliver a parcel. It contained a link to advise new delivery details. I clicked it to arrive at a malware warning red screen. I immediately exited. Would this be enough to allow malware to penetrate & how do I check if it did? Appreciate the help in advance!
