Install command doesn't work for High Sierra, the App Store will not download the installer.

Why can't I download High Sierra from the App Store anymore? I can't do a fresh install on an old iMac that I have that had the hdd die on it. And since I can't download HS from the App Store, I can't create a usb installer to boot from. Why Apple??

High Sierra is still available for download from the App Store.

You must open your Safari browser and click on the link below,

How to get old versions of macOS – Apple Support (UK) Go to the Download section and click on macOS High Sierra.

This will redirect you to the App Store High Sierra download page

it should say Get or Download.

If the App Store says ‘Open’ then it is detecting a previous download of the install app

go to the Applications folder locate Install macOS High Sierra.app.

Move it to the Trash, empty the Trash.

Restart, click on the link again, the App Store should say ‘Get' or 'Download'.
