But nfc tag reader is not working in iphone 12
I don’t think mine works either on iPhone 12. I hold it over the NFC reader on the device and nothing appears to have changed on my phone
From iPhone 12 to current iPhone 13, there is no need to turn on or off anything in control center (there is no setting actually) for NFC. Just hold your phone over an NFC Tag and your phone should automatically read it.
iPhone 12 not show
Iphone 12 does not read automatically
The operating system doesn't determine whether a device supports NFC Chip readers. There's a difference between an iPad and iPhone and most people don't carry an iPad around like a cell phone. iPad also does not support Apple Wallet in the same manner as iPhone does. With iPhone, you can just tap your phone to a payment reader and the NFC chip works to pay. iPad doesn't have that capability.
To be absolutely certain, I'd reach out to Apple Support directly, but I suspect they will likely confirm your iPad doesn't have a NFC Chip reader.
I had to set up a Shortcut as you suggested, on both my iPhone 12 mini and 13 Pro. But after tapping “Add Action”, I didn’t add anything and just saved it. Then I closed Shortcuts.
When I put my phone to the NFC tag (the same one I had used for setting up the Shortcut), lo and behold the Shortcut did pop up and read the NFC tag, and took me to the relevant website.
So thank you for the tip, even though I hope not to have to use the NFC tag reader too often!
Hi,
mir moazam ali hear
My phone problem is in my phone nfc tag reader r not showing
Sorry. I should have written they instead of you.
its frustrating that a crappy old android does the job…
iphone 11pro. ios 15.0.2.
does not read/write blank nfc tags.
i tried on a iphone 12pro from a friend. Doesnt work either.
its called pro, but seems to me, you could have called it iphone 11 wide cam.
i am dissapointed.
Tags are fine, my other phone is a older samsung galaxy witch reads/writes just fine.
I didn't name anything as I'm not an employee of Apple. This is a user to user only forum and Apple isn't here, just other users.
I've personally never tried nor do I know anything about writing NFC Tags, but I know my phones have read them just fine.
I'd recommend you reach out to Apple Support for help directly. They can better guide you based on what you're looking for.
You can use the Get Support button at the top of this page.
Hopefully this might be helpful
Click this link for the specifications for your iPad (8th generation, by the way) and I see no mention of a NFC Chip reader in this iPad --> https://support.apple.com/kb/SP822?locale=en_US
Perhaps why you can't get it to work on your iPad.
And that's why you should reach out to Apple directly for support. Writing to a tag reader is not something I'm all that familiar with.
