Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT
Security Update 2021-06. This security update will not install on my mac mini late 2012 running 10.15.7. It seems to go through the process but comes back to the place to select update. What can I do to fix this?
Sometimes a security update will install and then it will try to install a second or even third time.
To see if it has installed, go to Apple > About This Mac > select System Report > select Recent Installs and look for the 2021-006 Security Update.
If it has installed, then you can ignore the update.
If it has not installed, then go to Apple Downloads and manually download the 2021-006 Security Update for Catalina.

In either case, it might also be a good idea to use Safe Mode to repair and flush out your system.

Well, the update notice was gone for a while but now it is back after having started in Safe Mode a couple of times.
The update does appear in recent installation three times but the system still says it needs to be done. Any ideas about getting rid of this notice?

Did Safe Mode followed by a normal restart, clear up the notifications?
