I accidently deleted some messages that I did not mean to delete. Is there a possible way to get them back?

iPhone XR, iOS 14

Hi Atownley127,

Thanks for reaching out using Apple Support Communities. Here to help.

We understand you are inquiring about messages you've deleted and if there is a method to recover them.

Are you referring to messages sent and received in the Messages app? If so, options are limited. You will want to check if Messages in iCloud is enabled. This can be found in Settings > Your Name > iCloud. If Messages is enabled here, messages are deleted from the server at the same time they are deleted from your iPhone. If this setting is off, your messages would be included in devices backups. You may be able to restore from a prior backup to restore the messages as they were at the time of the backup, however, this will restore all of your content to the snapshot at that time, so you may lose more current messages as well.

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup

Hope this helps. Take care for now.
