How to fully delete printer driver from iMac

Hello,

This problem happens with each update to MacOS - my Brother laser printer will not print. The problem is easy to see after opening System Preferences and Printers. There are two printer drivers for the Brother printer. After each OS update, the old driver is selected and stops the printer from working. I have clicked on the lock, removed the old driver, leaving the valid driver and things are hunky dory until the next OS update when this removed driver rears its ugly head again. Can anyone tell me where it is coming from and how to permanently zap it. Thanks.
