why is my online credit not being used before my credit card when buying on itunes

Hey there qwerty2-21!

From what we understand your Apple ID balance is not being charged as expected.

You can try removing the credit card from the account. Take a look at the steps listed below.

Change, add, or remove Apple ID payment methods

Thanks Dave... A bit more info for others... My account is a shared family one, with my credit card being the main one, my wife's apple id was the one with the cash credit attached to it but when she made purchases it would default to my card, I obviously couldn't see her apple id credit to put it to the top of the list for payment method so the only way I could solve it was to turn off the family sharing and my wife's account now be came standalone and her purchases were now coming off of her apple id credit... Sorted
