Is the time on my iPhone usually against an orange bubble?

The time in the upper left corner of my iPhone screen is against an orange oblong bubble.

Was it always or is this an indication of another app in use, like when the personal hotspot is on, for example.

I don't remember it being orange before. Nothing happens when I touch it.

Thanks

Danielle

The orange bubble indicates usage of the microphone in the background. If you are in a call, or have an app recording your voice, it will show an orange bubble around the time if you are not inside the app using the mic.

You can tap on it, to open the app using the microphone at that moment.

It's strange it would not open any app when tapped.

You can see all open apps and close them by swiping up from other bottom of the screen and stripping have way (on iPhones without a home button) or double clicking the home button on iPhones with a home button, and swiping the apps up and off the screen to close them. Otherwise, restarting the iPhone, may get rid of it. link-> Restart your iPhone - Apple Support
