The native Mail App filtering options do not include the facility to filter by date. Your viable options are:

a) attempt to filter and bulk delete mail from your Mail providers web-portal. You’ll need to sign-in/access your email using a web browser - and use this interface to manage the deletion process.

b) using your iPad…

First ensure that mail-threading is disabled in settings (Settings > Mail > [Mail Threading]); these controls significantly influence the display order for email visible in the Mail App. Having your email arranged within its Mailbox in chronological order allows you to manually select a block of email messages.

From a Mail App mailbox, tap the blue Edit button at the bottom of the screen; each email can now be individually selected/deselected from the list by tapping the little circle that appears to the right of each message - but here’s the often overlooked trick…

Swipe down (or up) the selector with your finger to rapidly select messages en-masse; the list will scroll as you reach the top or bottom of the screen. Once you have highlighted the email that you wish to delete, select the action that you wish to perform using the buttons that have appeared at the bottom of the screen.
