Un able to update IOS

Different problem than what I thought. You can’t update if the phone is in low power mode (as yours is).

To update all of these requirements must be met:

• You need at least 6 GB of free storage for iOS 15 (3.7 GB for iOS 14.8)
• You must be connected to a Wi-Fi network (and not a personal hotspot)
• The phone must be charged to at least 50%, and preferably plugged in so it stays above 50% during the update
• The phone must not be in Low Power Mode
• The phone must not be connected through VPN
• The phone cannot be in Airplane mode

If you have 14.7 that means that you were in the iOS 14 beta, and 14.7 is the last update for the beta. You need go to go Settings/General/Profiles, tap on the beta profile and remove it. The phone will then restart, and you can update to 14.8 or 15. The update process is still allowing that choice.

Doh! I'd already put that out of my mind.

Tap Settings

tap General

scroll to the bottom

Profiles will be the entry below VPN

If instead of Profiles you see Device Management you will need to contact the business or school that manages your phone.

iOS 14.8 is no longer the current version of iOS for your phone. The current version is iOS 15.
