Is “can't get in it to pair it” referring to the watch? You don’t need to get in it to pair it. If it is unpaired, it powers up to the Apple logo, then hold your iphone near it and pairing will start. If the watch is powered off, hold the crown and side button until the Apple logo appears. Keep in mind Series 1 watches only update to WatchOS 6.3.
