Ipad pro 2021 thunderbolt 3 cable to iphone

Looking to get the new ipad pro 2021 and noticed it has the thunderbolt 3 port, can i plug in my iphone with the usbC cable and transfer photos off my iphone to my ipad like i can on my mac mini or do i have to still use a transfer app
