Family iCloud sharing

I recently received an email saying I now get iCloud storage for free and can family share it. But I got billed today for the $00.99 subscription. Why is that if it’s free now? Thank you

I think what you received was an email saying that you have been upgraded to iCloud+ at no additional charge. Was this the wording of the email that you got?

Great news! We’ve automatically upgraded your iCloud storage plan to iCloud+ at no additional charge. iCloud+ combines everything you already love about iCloud with new features including iCloud Private Relay, Hide My Email, and more HomeKit Secure Video support.

What this means is that you now get the upgraded features of iCloud+ at no additional charge, but you still have to pay for the upgraded storage each month. Users that opt for the free 5GB of storage, do not get the features of iCloud+.

For Financial Assistance, Contact Apple Store Support:

You need to contact Apple Support Directly. This is a User-to-User forum. We are all volunteers. So, as you may suspect, no one here has access to that information — and that is a good thing, BTW. That’s why for Financial Assistance, you need to contact Apple Support. They’ll see what’s going on and will run you through the fix.

Apple Contact Info:

Why the Wait:

Phone calls are taking a bit to go through at the moment, due to lots of calls. With the Coronavirus Pandemic, many are at home at the moment, with much time on their hands to contact Apple. So, just stay on the line, and you will get through :)
