I just changed the admin name of my MacBook that I was given as I am the new owner. I also changed the home directory folder name, no problem. I can do everything except change the account name – the filed is greyed out. Any tips?

New Administrator:
Export what is undesired, and then create a new administrator. Once created, log in to the new administrator, import items into the new administrator, and then trash this current administrator. Doing so may require a password. So, see if you can do this.
What about the apple iCloud account? Has that been updated too. Rather than changing it’s better to create a new admin user and setup fresh. Once that’s done, delete the original admin.
best option always would be to clean format the device and then let other to use.
Thank you, Vishal. Unfortunately I had already changed the original admin name and home directory. I guessed it might have something to do with Apple iClpud account, so I have been trying to update that but now it's asking for the password for the old admin account, and it's not letting me in!?

p.s. So I followed your advice and set up a new, separate Administrator. I then deleted the 'incorrect' one. And i also updated my Apple iCloud. Thanks again.
