What happens if I tap "play sound" using Find My app when my Airtag is not connected to my iPhone (it's a few miles away)? Will it play sound if there is any device around connected to find my network? Or is it mandatory to be connected to my own phone to use play sound feature? Thanks.

Thanks for your reply Lori. What I want to know is does Airtag uses the “find my network” (network of other Apple devices around Airtag) to play sound the same way it uses to display its location? I expect an answer from someone who has ever tried this with the latest firmware. Otherwise I’ve already read Apple’s saying it needs to be within bluetooth range to play sound. But it doesn’t clarify if it must be in the range of its paired device or other devices belong the network.
