Does/can Numbers use macros and/or how does it?

I have five Excel data sheets I transferred to Numbers due to Microsoft using costly cloud. Four transferred well but one is a macro. Macros don't work in Numbers so is there a way to write a script in/for Numbers to do what macros do in Excel (Basic language)?

Mac Pro, macOS 11.6

AppleScript is very different from VBA. You launch it from outside the app via a click or a keyboard shortcut. How well it can meet your needs very much depends on the specifics of your document and what you are trying to do.

In most cases, yes. The script, written in Applescript, would be external, and would be activated with a menu choice or a keystroke combination.

SGIII is the most likely participant here able to write the script, but will need further details on the Excel macro being used, and would probably appreciate a screen shot of the Excel docuent as well.

Quite Right but I'm reluctant to put the whole script on the thread as it quite lengthy. Something like 335 lines pin Excel. There does appear to have some redundancy. I did this about 15 years ago and am now attempting to see if numbers can handle the Excel stuff.
