iPhone 13 pro lens flare

Are these signs of camera defects with my iPhone 13 Pro Max? I keep getting these lens flares when taking photos and videos with bright sources of light. Happens allot with the sun during day and bright lights during night.

Yes and they're normal. Before you take the photo, you can easily see the flares on the screen. Alter the angle of the phone relative to the bright lights and you can eliminate the flares.

While these two photos were taken on iPhone 12 Pro Max, you can see what I'm talking about.

Simply angling the camera differently without moving at all produced this photo:

I have had the same issue but with much bigger flare than the one shown on some photos on my IPhone 13 pro max ,even if changing the angle and reduce the light on spot metering on the screen.it seems to me that this is a bug on the camera selection .last night during the focus and noticing this large flare ,i have obstructed alternatively each single lens , I don’t remember which one it was but when the camera had refocus after i removed my finger ,then the photo has been exposed perfectly .

I will try again and show the large flare i have had and mention which camera was the one creating this issue .

Ridiculous. People are complaining just as much about the new Google Pixel 6 phones and they have complained about Samsung phones for the last several generations as well. There are no higher-end phones which in the right conditions don't capture lens flare. NONE.

If you're not happy with the camera system on your iPhone, sell it or if within the return window return it and get something else you think better meets your needs.

Complaining here about something normal, expected and in many situations is unavoidable is a waste of time. Apple isn't here. They aren't reading these posts. You are just speaking with other users, none of whom can do anything for you except to explain lens flare is normal.

I was recording some fireworks and there was a reflection of every firework in my video. I think it would be more accurate to call it lens reflection than lens flare. The streaks of light coming from the lamp and the fireworks are flares, but you can see an exact replica of the firework at the bottom of the shot. That is a reflection.

Is this normal on the new iPhones? I previously had an iPhone SE (1st gen) and did not notice this type of reflection before. I just got a 13 mini. Maybe it's better to stick with a low quality phone for casual pictures and videos...

You can say it’s not normal all you like but there are photos here taken with every iPhone back to the 6 along with Google Pixels, Samsung Galaxy S21s, Panasonic video cameras and even $50,000+ ARRI cinema digital cameras with $10K lenses proving that yes, it is normal.

The bright object will be mirrored, whether a pinpoint light source or a brightly lit sign.

Here’s a shot from a professional production for you.

Well, idk, always been a MAJOR issue on my 11 pro max. totally sx.

plus, i also use it mounted live streaming on a bicycle, if i use a different video camera handycam type, NO FLARES.

it’s terrible. for the first time since 1982 i’m considering, right now —after this beautiful evenings atrocious videos — a different smartphone vendor.

OR AND UNLESS: this is genuinely a defect, which most of what i’ve read says it is. I really wish i wouldn’t have let it go, not next time. (I always buy large storage unlocked, fully paid day 1 + AC.)
