My iPhone 11 footage looks awful

Hi all,

I've had my iPhone 11 for about a year now, and have taken some nice videos on it when out on landscape shoots. The lighting conditions have been great and well suited to the iPhone.

I decided to shoot a friends YouTube on it to really try it out, unfortunately I didn't have much control over the light so prioritised exposure over the cinematic look.

That being said, my footage has come out absolutely terrible, super grainy, super "clayey" and heavily compressed... any ideas why?

Shot at 4K 30fps in most compatible format

To isolate the issue, let's try updating to iOS 15 to test.

Has the quality been the same since?
Have you updated to iOS 15?

It compresses it a tiny bit more to hide some of the artefacts, but ultimately no
Yes, we did a test the day after in the same conditions and it was the same
