For students with enrollment into recognized college or university, there
may be discounted products available. Also look into Apple Refurbished.
And better value can be realized in upgraded models; most are unable to
be upgraded after purchase. Choose what specs you need looking ahead.

Items may range from near retail to low list; others near refurbished price.
You need not be a student ~ to find good discount on Apple's 'refurbished
store' computers.. However those items may be more scarce in general.

About M1 Apple. A better value is with higher spec hardware with better
options at get-go. At least 512GB-to-1TB Storage. 8-Core CPU, 8-Core GPU.
And extended AppleCare+ optional coverage; often best to have than not.
Independent Apple resellers may offer their own refurbished or used/repaired
Macs. ~ Those may be OK; however limited are their 'in-house' guarantees.
Some folks like to have an older and newer Mac; should anything happen to
one, there's another to get you through. I've some of both; nothing very new.
