Memoji and Face ID

My Memojis simply stop working whenever I have wired earbuds on. Please mind that I’m using original Apple earphones. Is it a software problem or something in my device that I should be worried about?

It appears that you're having a problem with your iPhone and the earbuds you received from Apple. When you plug your earbuds into your iPhone, your Memojis stop working, and we're glad to provide assistance.


Before we can begin to start with troubleshooting, we need to isolate the issue a bit first. Please test the issue and share the results when you're able:


Restart your iPhone and test.

If you have a friend with an iPhone X or later, test the issue on their phone.

If you have a friend with wired headphones that works with your iPhone, test the issue.


Also, which model of iPhone are you using, and which iOS is it currently on? And, what isn’t working with Memojis when you’re using your earbuds?

I’m having the issue on an iPhone 12 running ios15. 

tryed a couple lightening Apple EarPods (that came with older mode iPhones I’ve bought) and the issue is present on both. 

reseted the phone (both turning on/off and vol up/down + power) with no success

found the same issue on an iPhone 11pro max

Thanks for getting back to use, Luc_q. It’s appreciated. We’re assuming you’re unable to use animated Memji when using your earbuds. We also tested the issue here and found that the animated Memoji produced no sound.


We cannot locate any documentation on this, so we’d like for you to contact Apple Support to look into this issue further: Get Support -- Choose Apps & Features > FaceTime not working as expected to reach them.
