Hello, I want to do a software update on my MacBook Air, when I go to system preferences, Software Update does not come out, what can I do ?

Back up your data, check your applications for compatibility, and depending on which MacBook Air model you have, click on High Sierra, Mojave, Catalina, or Big Sur. It needs to be at least a late 2010 one to run a newer OS.
