iPad Pro 2021 Nikon D850 file read issue

I have the iPad Pro 2021 12.9in running iOS 15. When I view raw files from my Nikon D850, the image flickers a few times, and then the screen goes black displaying the file name and size. This happens if reading the raw file from the memory card, and when the raw file is stored on the iPad. The raw file is 94.3 mb.

The file settings in the camera is set to Raw 14bit Large. Changing the file setting to Raw 12bit Large does the same thing. I changed the file to Raw Medium, and the image is displayed without flickering.

Is this happing to everyone, or just me?

I figured out it has to do with the file size. I changed the raw size to M, and didn’t have the problem. Changing the settings to 12-bit compressed still does not work. So I am guessing the files side above 40MB or so will have this issue.

With the raw file size set to L, I use Lightroom on my iPad to edit my photos without issues. The problem is I have to import all the photos into Lightroom to see them full screen. I didn’t buy the iPad to move my work flow, I wanted to cull through and pick a couple to share quickly. Kind of a bummer.

Hi, I’ve been having the same issue with my D850 files, Files from my D5 are ok and can edit them

I am currently using Snapseed and Pixelmator both are fine.

I just bought my first Apple product, the iPad Pro 11” 2021 version and I can’t stress enough how important it is for me as a photographer to view my raw files on this tablet. This is one of the main reasons I bought this and I’m quite disappointed that it doesn’t work. Hope they fix this asap.

Good news, Will have a look, In all honesty I can get away with just jpgs on my iPad,its only to review at that point
