iPhone says "SOS" in top right corner

That means you can only place emergency calls.

Typically this is because your SIM card has failed, your account was disabled by your cellular carrier or you turned off "Automatic" under Settings -> Cellular -> Cellular Network and have manually selected the wrong carrier.
