iPhone mask Face ID unlock not working

Why is the iPHONE 13 Pro still not unlocking with my mask on even after the update to iOS 15.0.1 yesterday (01 October 2021)? I no longer get the error message, but I do get a passcode request when wearing my mask.

In Settings > Face ID & Passcode - did you turn on Unlock with Apple Watch?

In the Apple Watch App, did you also go to Settings > Passcode - Turn on Unlock with iPhone?


After every iOS update, I ALWAYS Force Restart my iPhone. Try that, then see if it works with your Apple Watch. I can confirm it did fix this for me.


Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the side button. When the Apple logo appears, release the button.
