change google background page in safari

I just updated safari on my macbook and now my google background page is black how can i change it back to white?

Change color of loading page in Safari When a webpage is loading in Safari, a white screen appears, be it Facebook, Gmail or any other website. If it's contents haven't appeared, then the tab appears completely white (maybe my Internet is way too slow but it takes a few seconds with almost every page, that's why it is annoying). Is there a way to override this color so that it appears gray/black until the page is loaded (regardless if the webpage has a white background)? I am running macOS Mojave 10.14.4. and Safari12.1. I am running dark mode and that doesn't change the color of the loading page.

Appearance settings for Safari 15 menu bar CORRECTION TO THE POST BELOW: The issue is NOT Dark Mode on Safari 15, but is instead the menu bar at the top of the app window mimicking whatever color is at the top of the web page. For example, on this Apple site, the entire menu bar turns black because of the blank menu band at the top of this page. Is there a way to turn of this particular feature? Original Post: Is there a way to manually turn off Dark Mode for the new Safari 15? It defaults to Dark Mode, even though I've turned it off completely using Appearance under General in System Preferences. I can't find a way to switch it off in Safari settings. TIA

Hi nikoo128,

Some websites query the Light/Dark Mode status on your Mac and adapt accordingly. I'm not sure if Google is one of these sites, but most sites that do this should have an option to force either Light Mode or Dark Mode.

For Google in particular, go to the bottom right corner of the search page, and click the Settings link. Click the Appearance button to toggle between Dark Mode and Light Mode.
