iOS / iPadOS Mail constantly asking for password for on-premise Microsoft Exchange corporate account

Hello,


Since upgrading my iPhone 11 Pro Max and 2018 iPad Pro 11 to iOS 15 (now at 15.0.1), my Mail app is CONSTANTLY asking me to re-enter the password for my work email, which is a on-premise hosted Microsoft Exchange 2016 platform.


A coworker of mine who upgraded from their iPhone 7 running iOS 14.7.1 (which never had an issue) to an iPhone 13 Pro now on iOS 15.0.1 is also experiencing the exact same issue, and it’s driving us insane, as our employer requires LONG, COMPLEX passwords, which we now are forced to input pretty much every day!


Is Apple aware of this, and/or working on a fix in an upcoming release? I see from comments on MacRumors that this started happening around iOS 15 Beta 8, and that previously it wasn’t an issue, so my guess this got introduced in B8 and leaked into the final code…


Anyone else having this problem?

I have exactly the same issue!


My company uses Exchange 2013, no changes made to the Exchange server and since upgrading to iOS 15 email app at least once a day is asking for a password. This does not appear to cause any issues for any non Apple Users or those with older iOS versions.


The problem is, my domain account is highly privileged meaning when the wrong password is provided 3 times, the account is locked out until manually unlocked. When my account has got locked out for 2 days in the row, a security investigation was launched in to reason why the account was locked out yet again and whether the company is being attacked. This has taken up business time and resource to look in to an issue caused by an iOS Update, totally unacceptable


This is causing my account to be locked out EVERY SINGLE DAY stopping me from being able to work!!!

Same issue but it only started with iPadOS 15.1on my 2020 iPad 12.9 Pro even Microsoft Authenticator does not recognize my password. But Outlook on the same iPad works fine - it’s just Apple Mail and Authenticator. Very strange as it still fine on my iPhone XS running 15.1?? Both the iPad and iPhone are connected to the same exchange account.

Thanks for flagging this… at least I know I’m not the only one.
