Hi,

There are a lot of factors that we need to consider why your phone is getting warmer than usual. Since you've mentioned that you are not even using the phone yet it is still getting warmer than it is used to be. Bugs in certain applications may also contribute, there are bugs in applications that can also create heat-related issues. These bugs can sometimes cause an application to overuse your phone's processor, causing it to generate excessive heat.

  • Try resetting the phone back to full factory settings and set up the phone as new, not from any back ups you have in an icloud, these will help us isolate if the phone will still generate excessive heat even if it's on factory default applications. If so, then it might be a hardware related concern and have to reach the tech support or drop by an authorized apple store to have the phone check from there.

I have a new iPhone 13 Pro Max. It gets extremely hot just sitting. It’s not being charged or doing anything else but sitting there. The screen isn’t even on. I finally had to turn it off because I was afraid of a battery problem and the potential for fire. I tried contacting Apple Support 3 time, but they would call back, their bot would say push 1. I would push it, a dozen times, and it just said, goodbye. I have been using Apple products for so long I remember when you could actually talk with a human. I have used iPhones since the day they were introduced, but this one is going back. What could be causing this extreme overheating?
