Mac Home app not showing HomePod controls, only settings

HomePodOS 15.0, MacOS 11.6. This seems to have started with the update to HomePodOS 15.

If I select Show Controls for a HomePod in the Home app on my Mac, no controls are displayed in the resulting dialog box. I can play music to the HomePod and Siri responds to voice commands correctly. Airplay works correctly to the device from several apps that I tested including Apple Music.

Home app controls display and work correctly from my IOS devices. Resetting two of my HomePods and adding them back into the Mac Home app did not fix the problem. Rebooting the Mac provided no joy. Short of starting totally fresh with the Mac Home app configuration, any ideas to try?

Hello Ironalchemy,

Let's try closing that app, and then press and hold the Shift key while re-opening it to start from a fresh state. If the issue persists, let's have you contact Apple Support.

This article does not address the issue that I have. I did note that Airplay and Apple Music work which is what this article describes. The problem that I have is that the Home app does not show any controls.
