Record a fender super champ x2 with GarageBand

I tried plugging in my fender super champ x2 to GarageBand via usb cable but it sounds terrible. It was all muddy and sounded terribly distorted. Is there some special setting or trick to doing this? I have a MacBook Pro 2018 and latest version of GarageBand.

I don't see a USB connection on that amp? What are using to connect it?

It does have a USB connection on the back which is what I was using (with a USB-C adapter) to record in GarageBand.
