thunderbolt 2 nmve

It is possible to connect a thunderbolt 2 (imac late 2013) to an external nmve ssd. I think to use apple adaptor

iMac 27″, macOS 10.15

Yes you can use Thunderbolt 1 or 2 external nvme drives. See Transcend JetDrive 855 as an example.


However the apple adapter only works with Thunderbolt 3 drives that have their own independent power supply. The adapter does not transfer power so bus-powered drives will not work. For example, an OWC Express 4M2 would work but an OWC Envoy Express would not work.
