transfer messages to new iPhone
How do I ensure my Messages will transfer to my new iPhone? I do not see them in iCloud.

The key is to be sure to back up your old iPhone BEFORE attempting to transfer any data to the new device. The support article that you arrived here from provides you with all of the possible methods to transfer the data.
You mention transfer "messages." Are you referring to iMessages, SMS text messages, or email messages ... or all three?
