Google Maps Street View Slow in Safari

I've been having problems with Safari and Google Street View. Whenever clicking a link for Street View Safari seems to take ages to load the Street View page and when it does the page is really slow. Scrolling around in Street View is painstakingly slow. Using just Google Maps, Safari is fairly fast. I also noticed that the Street View pushes my Safari CPU percentage near 100% for a while.

On Firefox 3.6 and Chrome Google Maps Street View seems to work fine. Anyone else experiencing this?
