iOS 15.0.1 download issue

I can’t download iOS 15.0.1 on my iPhone XS, I bought it today and while setting it up it tried to download it and is still trying after some time. How do I fix it, is there something wrong with my phone?

Impossible to tell with a used phone. Did you start on the Hello screen?

You need to be on Wi-Fi, Good SIM with service showing, On Charge, more than 50% charged and no VPN installed (If this starts from Hello screen that should not be a problem)

None of these were problems and it did start with the hello screen. It got past the iOS 15 update after about an hour of it saying “preparing update” but it couldn’t get past the iOS 15.8
