Safari 15.0 keeps changing colors at the top and I want it to stop

The top part of the Safari frame at the top with navigation and tabs is changing color—white, black, blue etc—and I don't like this at all. Apple's site, for example, turns the whole top of the browser black.

I want to go back to just plain vanilla Safari without the top part distracting from what I am doing. How do I do that?

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 10.14

In Safari>Preferences>Tabs unchecking Show color in tab bar seems to have done the trick.
