iOS 15's “Share Focus Status” not working

Hi, my girlfriend has an iPhone 12 Mini. She installed iOS 15 by restoring the device through her MacBook and then restored from the iCloud backup.

iOS 15 works fine, but the feature that shares the focus status on iMessage isn’t working.

She has enabled it at Settings —> Focus —> Do Not Disturb —> Focus Status —> Share Focus Status, but navigating at Settings —> Privacy —> Focus the Messages app is not present as it should be (nor any other app), and non of her contacts can see if she has enables DnD, either she can see if any of her contacts have enabled DnD.

Of course we tried restarting the device, toggling on & off the Share Focus Status feature both in the Focus settings and in iMessage with no luck.

Any ideas?

Hello Simos805,

Thanks for your post to Apple Support Communities. We understand your girlfriend's iPhone isn't showing a specific setting as expected. What you describe should show without any additional input on your part. Since restarting the iPhone hasn't resolved the issue, she may need to reinstall the iOS again because there may have been an issue with it when she installed it the first time. There is a way to do it without erasing her iPhone for now.

You will need to put her device in recovery mode, then choose Update. Do this from her MacBook:

If you can't update or restore your iPhone or iPod touch

Once her iPhone has the iOS reinstalled (again, not erasing her data, just choosing Update), see if Messages shows as an app for Focus under Settings > Privacy > Focus. Keep us updated how it goes.

All the best.

Thanks for letting us know the steps you completed Simos805.

Since reinstalling the iOS still hasn't helped show that feature, we'd suggest working with our support teams from here. They'll be able to look deeper into the issue with you. You can reach them through this link:
