When someone sends me a voice memo, it doesn’t let me play on my iPhone12 pro. Instead, it’ll say something like: Voicememo 135

FWIW and For anyone else who is experiencing this weirdness on their phone, the most recent iOS update seemed to fix it.

What we'd recommend then is that you Contact Apple Support for further assistance with your voice memos so they can look into these and the Voic Memos app.

If I save it in Voice Memos, I can play it- although Voice Memos is a tad wonky as well
Well, the same thing happens when people send me videos. And often times when I try to save the files- it doesn’t allow it. I have more than enough space on my phone. The thing is, I used to be able to play the voice memos (or videos) directly in the message. Do other people honestly save voice memos or videos on their phone and open each attachment with a separate app? I have always been able to listen and view things directly while messaging.
as for voice memos being wonky- I sometimes have to close the app 3 or 4 times before it lets me play anything

So then the voice memos are behaving as intended. That file type would need to be played through voice memos, so just save them there. Now, when you say wonky, what do you mean?
