I just bought the WF-1000XM3 and I'm having a light skip every so often just as described in the helpful answer in the thread.
I'm currently using a iPhone 12mini with iOS 14.8 and the earbuds are brand new
iPhone 12 mini, iOS 14
Download the Sony headphones app.
Connect your headphones to it.
See if there is a firmware update for them.
