Native Mac applications not responding

I have a MacBook Pro 13-inch, 2017 model which has been updated to the latest 11.5.2 OS. Applications such as Safari (14.1.2) and App store do not open. App store screen is white whereas on safari and typing any URL the screen is stuck on loading. The apple software update is also stuck on checking for updates. What can I do to resolve this issue? other applications like chrome and slack work fine.

Safari (v15) is the one for macOS Big Sur and macOS Catalina.

Did you had any error while upgrading your macOS?

Suggest you to try safe mode for troubleshooting. Hope it helps.

How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support (May take longer to boot than normal)

NoteSafe mode prevents your Mac from loading certain software as it starts up, including login items, system extensions not required by macOS, and fonts not installed by macOS. It also does a basic check of your startup disk, similar to using First Aid in Disk Utility. And it deletes some system caches, including font caches and the kernel cache, which are automatically created again as needed.
